@Robert Streit was eyeing double pole in the qualification for the 17th round on Saturday, but setup changes made during the interval between qualifying sessions backfired to put the Brazilian in forth on the grid. Kazuya Oshima meanwhile showed signs of recovery to push the forth place he secured in the previous qualification up to the second on the grid for Race Two. The pole went to Jarvis for the first time since round six. The top three spots for the grid were dominated by TOMfS when Hiroaki Ishiura qualified third. Tsukakoshi and Sekiguchi would start from the third grid.
@The second race out of three for the Sendai weekend started at 10:55 am on Sunday in cloudy and a bit chilly weather. Jarvis made a good start but Oshima did much better start and got ahead out of Jarvis in the first corner. Tsukakoshi and Streit followed the two. Oshima, however, made a mistake while braking just before the exit of the corner going off the track. Naturally Jarvis had no difficulty in retaking the lead to go into the second corner. Running through the gravel trap Oshima managed to put his car back onto the track, but it was just in front of Tsukakoshi and Streit, who were fighting for second place. The two poor racers had nowhere to go to drop back. The 24-lap race thus began with Jarvis, Ishiura, Oshima Streit, Izawa and Yasuda rounding out top six.
@Jarvis steadily built his advantage over Ishiura, eventually taking a runaway victory to earn third win of the year. gIf I had pushed harder I would have got a better time, but I am happy because I was able to set good laps constantly and the fastest lap, too,h said the Brit. gI could have got involved in the title battle, though, if I had had such a powerful race much earlier. It may be too late, but depending on how the next round goes I still might have a chance to take the title,h he expressed his enthusiasm.
@Ishiura took second. gI had a little trouble with the car setup, but I didnft take actions for it quickly,g he revealed. Despite hard charging from Streit Oshima held on to take the bottom step of the podium. Sekiguchi replaced Yasuda to finish sixth behind Streit and Izawa as Yasuda suffered a fuel system problem with only two laps left.
