JARVIS FAILS TO EARN CONSECUTIVE WINS, STREIT MOVES INTO POINTS LEAD

@Unlike the changing conditions from semi-wet to dry on the previous day the racing line was almost entirely dry for the qualification for the 6th round. A Tomfs driver Oliver Jarvis took pole in the session for the first time of the season. gThe practice didnft go as I had wished, so I reviewed the data and changed my way of driving. That has paid off since Friday,h said Jarvis.

@Streit, who has been displaying solid performance this season, placed 2nd, while he admitted that due to too much pressure on tyres he could not have runs consecutively. Two other Tomfs drivers Oshima and Ishiura secured the second row of the grid, ahead of Shion Formula Ltdfs Motoaki Ishikawa and Now Motorsportsf Yuhi Sekiguchi.

gI missed a podium finish but I can make it in the race,h Oshima expressed his confidence. gThe car was in good shape but I was not able to make the best use of it,h said Ishiura. gIt took some time to adapt myself to the car, but the team set up the car for me to handle it easily,h said Ishikawa. gThe setup changes the team made during the interval really worked,h said Yuhi Sekiguchi.

@The road surface temperature already soared to nearly 40Ž, 20Ž higher than in the Saturdayfs qualifying when the 6th round started at 10:48 am on Sunday. Every squad was very busy fine tuning car setups to the last moment on the grid.

@Jarvis got a slightly slow start as the red signal went off, while Strait did a flying start. Pulling over to the inside track to contain Strait, the pole-winner eventually forced Streit off the track. Third-placed Oshima span out of track as he came out of corner two, competing for 3rd with Izawa, and lost several positions. Izawa also span out of track.

@Jarvis completed the first lap still on top of the field, ahead of Streit, Ishiura, Izawa Tsukakoshi and ThreeBonfds driver Ben Clucas, a fill-in for Marko Asmer, who was not able to make the race. Although completed the first lap in the 10th place, Oshima dropped out of contention for a point finish when he was handed a drive-through penalty on lap 3 for the offence of his jump start.

@By the lap 8 the same penalty was given to Jarvis, who enjoyed about 3 seconds advantage over Streit, for his move just after the getaway. Streit took over his spot on lap 10 after the Britfs pit stop. gI thought that such a move was very likely to get a penalty in Japan,h said Streit. gSo I didnft risk hunting him down.h

@In the end the leaders kept their positions home. The second win put Streit into points lead. gOnce I moved into the top I had my run taking care of my lead over second-placed Ishiura,h said the Ingingfs racer. gI still have a long way to go. I want to constantly score podium finishes.h

gItfs a shame I was outdistanced by Robert later in the stages,h said the 2nd placed Ishiura. gIfve been in the best shape in this season. I am very happy I turned it to the podium finish,h Izawa smiled. gIfd like to thank team boss, engineers and all the staff.h

@After a long hard battle Clucas secured a glorious 6th place behind Tsukakoshi and Jarvis.
