@The qualifying for the second race saw almost the same lineup
as the first one, with Oshima on pole, Jarvis, Ishiura, Strait,
Asmer and Tsukakoshi completing first three rows. However,
the race conditions were totally different. The road surface
temperature rose up to 27-28 with early summer sunshine on
Sunday afternoon, while on the previous day it was chilly
with road surface temperature at about 11. Many teams spent
most of the time on the grid working on race setup until the
last minute because drivers probably expressed their concerns
about instability of rear tyres.
@Oshima, who had said he would ensure no mistake in getaway
for the second race, had wheelspin a little as the red went
off to concede the top to Jarvis again. Streit and Ishiura
followed him ahead of Sekiguchi, and Yuki Nakayama, who
brought out the yellow flag at corner one, after nosing
into Sekiguchifs rear. Just in front of yellow flag section
on lap 2 the pole-winner stayed calm and overtook the front-runner
Jarvis, who was struggling with big slide of the rear tyres.
The Brit was then passed by Streit on lap 3.
@ThreeBond and Honda Team Real competed for 5th and 7th,
and ended up Tsukakoshi finishing 5th ahead of Asmer, who
span out of the course early in the race, and Yasuda finishing
7th ahead of Izawa.
@Once he moved up to top Oshima gradually built a lead
to complete the 21 lap race about 5 seconds advantage over
Streit. gI just wanted to avenge that defeat in race one,
and I was confident in my pace.h The runner-up Streit edged
out a hard charging Jarvis. gClose fight with Tomfs drivers
will continue. I will try to muscle into them like I did
today,h said the Brazilian. Jarvis placed 3rd ahead of Ishiura,
and Tsukakoshi, who finally overcame a neck-and-neck battle
with Asmer.
